Why does the calculator show a range, not an exact price?

Le Shuttle uses dynamic pricing. Two travellers booking the same crossing minutes apart can see different fares depending on how full the train is at each moment. We show a low / high range that represents the typical band you should expect, with the actual fare landing in between for most bookings made six to eight weeks ahead.

Where can I get a real Le Shuttle quote?

Always finalise on leshuttle.com. The booking widget there reflects live availability and the exact fare for your chosen date, time and vehicle. Use this calculator to budget and pick promising travel dates, then confirm with the official site.

Does the calculator include Peak Day surcharges?

Partly. The Peak season multiplier in our calculator accounts for the typical Peak Day uplift in summer and at Christmas. It cannot pinpoint individual Peak Days (e.g. 4 May 2026 specifically) which carry a £150 to £250 surcharge. For a precise fare on a known Peak Day, use leshuttle.com.

Does it compare with the ferry?

Yes. The Ferry Comparison panel shows an estimated Dover-Calais fare from P&O / DFDS for the same vehicle, season and ticket type. It also adjusts for vehicle type (motorhomes are usually cheaper on the ferry, motorcycles the other way). Use this to decide when the ferry is the better-value option.

How we calculate

Base fares sampled from leshuttle.com over multiple booking attempts in March-April 2026.
Seasonal multipliers derived from comparing the same date six weeks ahead in low, shoulder and peak windows.
Ticket-tier multipliers based on the published price gap between Day Trip / Short Stay / Standard / FlexiPlus.
Ferry comparison uses publicly listed P&O and DFDS Dover-Calais fares with vehicle-type adjustments.
Pet supplement is fixed at £22 per pet each way.

Fuel to and from your terminal (typically £25 to £80 each way from major UK cities).
Dartford Crossing toll if you use the M25 (£2.50 to £6.00 depending on vehicle).
M6 Toll if you come south from the Midlands (£8.30 cars, £16.60 vans, peak).
French autoroute tolls (peage) if you drive south of Calais (typically €30 to €70 for a Paris-Calais round trip).
Travel insurance, breakdown cover, vehicle on hire fees if applicable.
